Festival of Transition

This 24 hours is about reconnecting with where food comes from, and realising that local food can be cheaper, more varied and healthier than standard shipped-in supermarket fare.

It’s about looking forward to a future where we can have confidence not only in the quality of our food, but in production techniques that are better for people and the planet.

The fossil fuels that are the basis for every stage of modern food production processes won’t last forever, but why shouldn’t we eat better as a result?

Only eating food produced within a certain radius of your school, workplace or home? Arranging a visit to a local food producer? Spending a day planting delicious food in your garden or other green space? What’s your take on 24 hours of local food?
